Kiwi Country Day Camp’s Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program*
The primary goals of the program are to help participants recognize themselves as leaders, teachers, and positive role models, and to understand what goes into making camp an unforgettable experience for the younger campers at KCDC. The CIT program is designed to provide our oldest campers with an exciting and challenging learning experience, helping them become leaders both at camp and within their community.
During the first two weeks at camp, CITs will participate in a number of activities that are aimed at TEAM building, problem-solving and being a positive role model. In addition, CITs will enjoy camp activities as a camper themselves.
During weeks 3-5, as CITs develop these skills, they will start interacting and working with campers and counselors in lower age group areas for half of the day. CITs will hone in on the importance of initiative, communication, and listening. The other half of the day, CITs will continue to participate in activities as campers.
For the duration of camp, CITs have the opportunity to work in a group or specialty area. This is when CITs are given the chance to shine and demonstrate what they have learned in the previous weeks at camp. The CITs will validate why they would be a valuable addition to the TEAM at Kiwi Country Day Camp.
CITs will have the opportunity to participate in up to six off-campus trips, designed to support the skills they are learning, as well as have some FUN! They will participate in community service projects, both on and off campus.
There are a limited number of spots for our CIT program. We welcome all that are interested to fill out an application.
*The CIT program is a 6, 7 or 8-week program (5 days a week), and campers are required to enroll in week 1 or 2, both preferred.
