TEAM Members
Our TEAM members are mature, dedicated and passionate individuals who are positive role models and mentors for our campers. All KCDC TEAM members undergo a full criminal background check, and personal references are required and carefully checked. Our counselors and specialists are managed and coached by members of our Leadership TEAM. All of our TEAM members go through an extensive training program which enhances their overall skill level regardless of their experience level.
Many of our TEAM return year after year. This continuity of the TEAM creates an environment that is consistent and familiar, and enhances the family atmosphere that is prevalent at KCDC.
What makes a KCDC counselor so unique?
-
- Many of our TEAM members have a variety of experience working with children and they return from year to year
-
- Many are working towards or possess advanced degrees in education
-
- Many have advanced degrees in special education which helps them cater to campers’ individualized needs
-
- Most have extensive experience in camping, both personally and professionally
-
- Many were KCDC campers themselves!
A bond that binds the entire KCDC TEAM is an unrelenting commitment to help each camper enjoy every day of his/her summer at camp, and belief in the core commitment that we make to you: confidence, achievement, friendship, healthy living, family, outrageous customer service, safety, growth, spirit, and confidence.
Program Specialists
All of our camp activities are lead by professionals that are specialists in their field. Campers have the opportunity to learn from instructors that are truly passionate about what they do and eager to share it with others. |
Division Leaders
Division leaders oversee specific age groups at camp while guiding and supporting our group leaders and counselors. They become the main point of contact for the camp families that they serve. They are post-college professionals, parents or teachers. Your division leader will call to introduce themselves prior to the start of camp to ensure a seamless transition for your child as well as be available to assist you throughout the summer. |
Aquatic Instructors
Aquatic instructors implement instructional swim and help to ensure every child’s safety in the water. All of our instructors are LGT and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certified. |
Group Leaders (Pre-K through 2nd Grade Groups) Our group leaders are TEAM members that work with a specific group of campers, participating with them at all activities and overseeing two or three counselors (depending on the size of the group). |
Counselors
Counselors work with specific groups of campers, helping them feel comfortable and participating with them at activities. Counselors are experienced adults, often attending college or university for a degree in education. |
Junior Varsity and Varsity Leaders A small number of high school students (11th and 12th graders), who are graduates of our Counselor-In-Training Program, work in various support roles throughout the camp. This is often their first employment opportunity, and as such we oversee them closely and continue to train them along the way. |
