Silver Platter Foundation Awarded $500 Donation from Kiwi Country Day Camp
More than 5,000 votes were received, and Kiwi Country Day Camp would like to congratulate the Silver Platter Foundation – the recipient of a $500 donation as part the #KCDCGivesBack on #GivingTuesday contest. Based out of Ridgefield, CT, the Silver Platter Foundation provides goods and services to families with young children that are affected by adult blood cancer. They assist with food, transportation, housekeeping, school supplies, clothing, or any other daily need that would aid the family in getting through the difficult time that is experienced during cancer treatment.
December 1, 2015 was #GivingTuesday, a national movement to create a day of giving at the beginning of the holiday season. #KCDCGivesBack‬ on #GivingTuesday gave Kiwi Country Day Camp the opportunity to support a local charity/organization that is important to the friends and families of the camp. Organizations were initially nominated via Facebook, email and an online form to be considered for the donation. All nominated organizations were then presented for a final vote. The Silver Platter Foundation received nearly 14% of the votes, thereby awarding them the $500 donation.
Rachel Langberg, founder and president of The Silver Platter Foundation stated, “Thank you KCDC! We are humbled by your generous donation of $500 in honor of ‪#GivingTuesday‬! This money will go directly to families affected by adult blood cancers with children living at home. The competition was fierce and every non-profit was deserving. Thank you for the opportunity!”
Adam Wallach, owner and director of Kiwi Country Day Camp, added, “We are honored to support the local communities that we serve by donating our time and programs to various school and community events. #GivingTuesday was yet another opportunity for us to involve our camp community by making a $500 donation to the non-profit organization that means the most to them. All of the nominated organizations were very worthy and do such wonderful things for our communities, and we are thrilled to help support The Silver Linings Foundation this holiday season.”
Several organizations throughout Westchester, Putnam and Fairfield Counties were nominated to receive the donation, reflecting the causes that mean the most to the friends and family of Kiwi Country Day Camp.
